A Brazilian advertising firm came up with the idea of showing planes headed toward Manhattan buildings in a spec ad it sent to the World Wildlife Fund that was leaked to the Internet. The ad was accompanied by the message that, "The tsunami killed 100 times more people than 9/11. The planet is brutally powerful. Respect it. Preserve it." The WWF said it immediately rejected the ad, which it did not authorize, and condemned it as "offensive and tasteless," adding that it "should never have seen the light of day."
